Black Friday 2026 in Australia: dates, early deals and what to buy
Black Friday lands on Friday 27 November 2026, and most Australian stores keep the sale going to Cyber Monday on 30 November. In practice it's longer than that: early deals are listed from 20 November, and some stores start sooner. It's the biggest tech sale of the year and the last big sale before Christmas, which is exactly why it's also prime time for inflated "was" prices and fake countdown timers. Here's when the deals really start, what's worth buying, what to skip, and how to check a discount is real before you pay. Prices and dates change, so always check the store first.

Black Friday 2026
When is Black Friday 2026 in Australia?
| Date | What's on |
|---|---|
| From Fri 20 November | Black Friday early deals (per the Click Frenzy calendar); many stores start around now |
| Fri 27 November | Black Friday, the main day |
| Sat 28 – Sun 29 November | Most sales keep running over the weekend |
| Mon 30 November | Cyber Monday, the last big day for most stores |
| Tue 1 December | Travel Tuesday: flights and stays |
Black Friday is the day after US Thanksgiving, so the date moves each year. Australian stores use the same date. If you see a good price in the early week, it's often the same price you'll get on the day, so there's no need to hold out.
Can't wait? Click Frenzy's Main Event runs 27–30 October. See Click Frenzy 2026 and the full sales calendar.
What's worth buying on Black Friday (and what to skip)
Usually worth it
- TVs: some of the deepest cuts of the year. Last year's models are the sweet spot. Compare the exact model number, since the same TV can carry slightly different codes at different stores. Start with our best TVs guide.
- Laptops: compare the processor, RAM and storage, not the percentage off. An older model at 40% off can still be worse value than a newer one at 15% off. See the best laptops for students.
- Headphones and earbuds: models that have been out a year or more often hit their lowest prices now. See our noise-cancelling headphones guide.
- Robot vacuums and small appliances: regular sale stars. Pick your model early with our robot vacuum and air fryer guides.
- Toys and Christmas gifts: the last big sale with reliable delivery before Christmas.
Usually skip
- Brand-new flagship phones: discounts tend to be small, or come as gift cards rather than a lower price.
- Anything not on your list. Four days of "limited time" banners are designed to make you spend more.
- Clothes for yourself: Boxing Day is often better for fashion.
Black Friday on Amazon Australia
Amazon Australia usually runs one long Black Friday sale that lasts more than a week and finishes on Cyber Monday. In 2025 it started on Tuesday 18 November and ended at 11:59 pm AEDT on Cyber Monday, 1 December (Tom's Guide). Amazon hadn't announced its 2026 dates as at 11 October 2026, so they are unconfirmed. We'll update this page when it does.
The categories that tend to drop most on Amazon AU are its own devices (Kindle, Echo, Fire TV), robot vacuums, headphones and small kitchen appliances. Some deals are Prime-only, so check the label. Not sure which Kindle? Read which Kindle to buy.

How to avoid fake Black Friday discounts
This isn't just us being cynical. The ACCC checked the Black Friday advertising of 50 Australian retailers in November 2025 and found around half made claims it was concerned about. These included countdown timers saying a sale was about to end when it actually ran longer, and "sitewide" or "storewide" headlines with exclusions tucked into the fine print (ACCC media release, April 2026). After the 2024 sales, Michael Hill, MyHouse and Hairhouse Online paid penalties over alleged misleading "sitewide" Black Friday claims (ACCC).
The ACCC also says a was/now saving can be misleading if the product was never sold at the higher price, or only sold at it briefly right before the sale (ACCC: two-price comparison advertising).
How to protect yourself:
- Look up the price history over the last few months. Our price tracker guide shows free ways to do it.
- Search the exact model number at two or three other stores.
- Ignore the timer. If the "ends tonight" banner is still there tomorrow, it was never the real deadline.
- Read the exclusions on any "storewide" or "extra 20% off" offer.
- Add delivery to the total, then put the numbers into our free real deal checker to see the actual saving.
Get ready before the day
- Make a short list now, with the price you'd be happy to pay for each item.
- Set a free price alert. Tell us the product and your max price on our price drop alerts page, and we'll email you when a deal we've checked matches. We currently check Big W, Kogan and the Amazon Australia deals we list.
- Log in and save your address at the stores you'll buy from, so checkout is quick if stock runs low.
- Check the returns window. Many stores extend returns for Christmas purchases, but not all do. See our guide to refunds on sale items.
- Set a budget and stick to it.
